Our Norfolk pine garlands are among our most popular products and it’s easy to see why, even if just from the touch of warmth they bring into spaces. The realism is unmatched, and so are the look and feel. Plus, this artificial Christmas greenery will never fade, brown, or drop needles, and will leave no sticky sap behind. It’s no wonder why they are so immensely popular.
Not even to speak of their versatility, which is nearly as limitless as the imagination. Here are some of the most creative ways you can liven up your interior decorating with one of our Norfolk pine garlands.
Spiral Them Up the Staircase Railings
This is one of the most show stopping ways to decorate with one of our Christmas garlands. Simply spiral them up the railing on the side of a staircase (both sides, if applicable, to create a symmetrical look) and you will instantly add a touch of brighter greenery to the setting!
Also, if you have railings or banisters at the top of a landing, add some garlands there, too, to increase the gravity of the effect.
Adorn the Entryway
Decorating the entryway of your home with a Norfolk pine garland will create a great first impression, especially when you’ve completed the scene with sprays, picks, ornaments, ribbons, and other Christmas decorations suitable for the setting!
Just follow the tracery of the door jamb or frame, or the arch around the door. You can use tiny wire nails or finishing nails and twist the garland points around these to hold it in place, or follow one of the other hanging methods detailed below.
Aside from ornaments and other decorative accents, you can complete this look by adding one of our wreaths either to the door itself or hang it over the garland.
Trim the Windows
Interior windows are another great place to put our Real Touch Norfolk pine garlands to work this Christmas season.
Hang them in the same manner, following the outline of the casement just as you would if you were hanging them around a door. They will add warmth and bright color, especially when trimmed with ribbons and twinkle lights.
Another tip here is to add a candle light at the window ledge, if there is one. This will add light and relief, and make the whole scene a focal point, especially at nighttime.
Around Columns
Columns, both inside and outside, present a perfect blank canvas for decorating with Christmas greenery, especially garlands, which are naturally made for them!
Simply wrap one end of the garland around the best of the column or pedestal, then spiral it around the column until you reach the top, at which point you should encircle the column once more and secure it in place.
This effect is elevated with a particularly sharp impression when it is utilized around entryways that are flanked by pillars or columns.
Draped Over the Mantel
The mantel is a perfect place for decorating with a Christmas garland. A long, flat mantel top can be graced simply by laying the Norfolk pine garland across it; of course, it will look much better if some of the ends of the garland trail off the sides. If you have a particularly long or wide fireplace in your home, connect two garlands end to end so that several feet drape off the sides.
Another way, especially for those who have stone fireplaces that square the perimeter of the fireplace, is to trace the garland from the ground, fully up and over the mantel, so that the garland frames three sides of the fireplace.
Then, as you would, complete the scene with picks, sprays, ribbons, ornaments, and of course, stockings! In some instances, you may even be able to use weighted stocking hangers to help secure the garland in place.
Decorate the Kitchen Chandelier
Does your home have an chandelier in the kitchen (or any room for that matter)? While a natural focal point in its own right, you can make the chandelier pop even more by draping one of our Norfolk pine garlands over and under the arms of the light fixture. To create even more interest, add in a fun pop of color with ribbon!
Bookcases, Armoires, Tables, Cabinets and More
Any fixture or piece of furniture with a flat surface can be decorated with Christmas greenery, and especially with garlands. Just as you would with the mantel over the fireplace, drape the garland across the top of the bookcase, shelf, armoire, or cabinet, and then let the ends trail down over the sides. Add lights and extra Christmas decorations for a touch of refined ambiance, and there you have it - garland decorating made easy!
Tips for How to Hang Them
There are many ways to hang Christmas garlands, but here are a few tips we have.
- Where possible, twist the ends of the garland around each other to help secure it in place.
- You can also use picture hanging wire to help secure our Christmas garlands.
- Adhesives like Command hooks and strips can also be used to hang garlands if there are not natural attachment points where you intend to hang them.
- If hanging over a window, you may be able to use the curtain rod to help support the garland.
- If hanging on a piece of wood trim or furniture, you may be able to use wood tacks, brads, or small finishing nails to help support the garlands. Just don’t drive them in too deep.
