3 Creative Spring Decoration Ideas

Mar 28th 2024

There are a million and one ways to get creative during the spring season. The outdoors are coming alive with birds and blooms, so why shouldn’t your home?

Fortunately for you, we are so much more than a Christmas store, and we sell a lot of creative spring decorations, too. Plus, our blog is packed with tips, like these, for how to make your home sing with the vibrant colors of spring. Here are just three creative ideas!

Just Add Flowers (and How to Do So)

If there’s one element that just shouts, “Spring!” it has to be flowers.

Now, what you could do is go outside and pluck a few tulips or daffodils, which are the earliest spring blooms in most areas, but we think there’s a better way.

First, the living blooms are better left where they are, for the health of the plant as well as for the pollinators that feed on the nectar and pollen.

Second, real blooms are evanescent and, even if you properly cut the stems, treat, and water them, even the brightest blooms will fade after a few days.

Not so for artificial spring greenery and flowers. High-quality artificial flowers and greenery are nearly indistinguishable from the real thing and will never fade. You get to leave nature intact and bring the color indoors anyway. On top of that, your purchase this year will be just as bold and beautiful next year as it was this.

We offer a wide range of brilliant spring greenery and flowers that are perfect for this time of year, including lavender, hydrangea, phlox, daisies, euphorbia, spike bushes, and so much more.

One creative way to add some color to your home for spring is to drop some of these into a vase or metal watering can - no water needed, nor any attention once the arrangement is set.

Some of these are also floral picks, which means they are perfect with floral foam. Just get a block of foam, cut it to the desired shape, trim the pick’s stem, and insert into the foam. Then you can hide the foam in a bowl or behind an accent and use these to decorate mantels, countertops, tables, bookshelves, alcoves, and anywhere that needs a little color.

The same thing goes for the spring greenery we sell here at Decorator’s Warehouse. Our greenery orbs and wreaths will never fade and will never need a drink of water, making them versatile, no-maintenance, and highly affordable.

The Spring Wreath

One really creative way to decorate for spring has to do with customizing a wreath to the season. There are so many ways to do this but we will touch on two here, one of which will need an assist from the spring florals we mentioned in the first section.

Both techniques will require a wicker wreath as a starting point. First, you’ll need to get yourself a wicker wreath in the appropriate size depending on where and how you plan to place it.

The first technique makes artistic use of Easter or spring-themed ribbon. We sell plenty of it here and there are lots of ways to get creative with it.

One way to light up a spring-themed wreath with ribbon is simply to spiral the ribbon around it. You can also make a bow from a ribbon and use that to decorate the wreath. Of course you can even combine both of these techniques. They only take a few minutes and will make a plain wicker wreath pop. Make sure to choose a ribbon with a color and pattern that works with your interior setting.

Another way to get creative with a wicker wreath is to use florals, specifically floral picks, to fill it out. Choose a few different floral picks that appeal to you, then insert them in clusters into the wreath. Trim the stems as needed, and fluff out the ends of the pick to add volume.

If you want to add lights to the wreath, consider spiraling fairy lights or cluster lights around it to increase the appeal and draw attention to it as a focal point. Also, if you really want to enhance the appearance, consider using both florals and spring ribbon when decorating a wreath.

Of course, we also sell pre-made rings that can be used as rings or configured as centerpieces - you can check them out in our floral and greenery collection. One cute option is our cotton wreath which can be used on doors or walls both inside and outside. Here’s a quick trick for it; please a few drops of your favorite essential oils on one of the cotton bolls for a DIY diffuser that will make your home smell wonderful.

Spring Decorating with Vases and Bowls

The last general tip we have for how to decorate has to do with creating centerpieces from decorative vases, bowls, baskets, and watering cans.

If you have a decorative metal vase or watering can, wrap the base with burlap or spring ribbon, then fill it with spring greenery or florals.

You can pull off the same basic look with a bowl or a small wicker basket. Fill these with decorative orbs or leftover easter eggs or small bird figurines for an instant spring look.

Another way to decorate a bowl or basket for spring is with some high quality faux fruit and green moss. You can get real sphagnum or spanish moss at most craft stores and garden centers; these two elements look wonderful together, add color to a setting, and exude a general air of spring.
