How to Decorate a Christmas Wreath
Step 1: Fluffing the Wreath
When you first get your wreath, it might look a bit smooshed. Don’t worry, fluffing it up is easy. Just go all the way around and pull the branches apart to make the wreath look full and lush. This simple step makes a big difference in how your wreath looks.
Step 2: Adding Ribbon
Ribbon adds texture and color to your Christmas wreath. You’ll need about 10 yards of ribbon for your 30-inch wreath. Our rolls are 5 yards each, so you’ll use two rolls. Start by making a bow with seven loops—three on one side and four on the other. Use floral wire to secure the bow and attach it to the 11 o’clock position on the wreath. Then, weave the ribbon through the wreath, creating billows and securing them with the branches. Alternate the billows to avoid symmetry and add visual interest.
Step 3: Adding Flowers
Flowers bring vibrancy and elegance to your wreath. Choose three flowers for this wreath. Trim the stems to appropriate lengths and hook them into the wreath frame. To ensure they stay in place, use some glue for extra stability.
Step 4: Adding Ornaments
Ornaments add sparkle and a festive touch. Select six ornaments, ideally two different styles for variety. Wrap the ornament strings around the wreath branches and add a bit of glue for extra security. This will keep them in place and make your wreath look more polished.
Step 5: Adding Filler Sprays
Filler sprays add texture and fill in any gaps. Cut the sprays into smaller pieces and place them in any remaining gaps in the wreath, alternating heights for a natural wispy look. Secure them with glue if needed. This final touch will give your wreath a full, finished appearance.
And there you have it! We made a beautiful 30-inch Christmas wreath using simple, replicable techniques. This wreath will add a festive touch to your home and is perfect for your front door.
