Energy-efficient LED mini lights are some of the most versatile Christmas lights we sell here at Decorator’s Warehouse, and they have so many different uses. With no further ado, here are a few of the best of them!

In Christmas Greenery

Lighting Christmas greenery is naturally one of the easiest ways to decorate with mini lights. Here are some top options.

  • Use them on the Christmas tree

One of the most straightforward ways to decorate with mini lights is to hang them on the tree, and this is a great option for those who decorate without prelit Christmas trees. Just choose a color that works for you, then spiral the lights around the tree from top to bottom (or bottom to top, it doesn’t really matter).

  • In Christmas wreaths and garlands

Mini lights can also be used to dazzling effect in both Christmas wreaths and garlands. They’re especially useful for decorating Christmas garlands since they can be spiraled around the garland and doubled back if the strand is a bit too long.

  • Outdoors in the bushes and shrubs

Many high-quality LED mini lights can also be used outdoors as well as indoors, which makes them perfect for decorating shrubs, topiaries, bushes and other greenery outside your doors. We also sell net lights with 5mm mini light bulbs that are perfect for decorating bushes.

  • Trunk wraps

One of the most popular uses of 5mm mini lights is for tree trunk wraps, including complete and partial wraps. Most lighting contractors use our mini lights for this specific purpose.

No Greenery Needed…

There are also many ways to decorate around your home with mini Christmas lights that don’t require any greenery.

  • Mantels and shelves

Simply hang some mini Christmas lights over your mantel or on your shelves, whether or not you’ve already hung greenery there, for some festive cheer which will also offer a soft, warm glow.

  • Outlining windows

Trace the outline of your home’s windows for an uplifting look that will make your house pop from the street and add some ambient light from within.

  • Light the clock

Does your home have a statement wall block or a freestanding grandfather clock? You can decorate either of these with an appropriate strand of mini lights (or with cluster lights) to produce a nice, eye-catching and inviting effect that will transform the clock into a focal point in the room.

  • Bed canopies

If your home has an antique four poster with a canopy, then that’s also a prime opportunity for decorating with mini lights (or cluster lights). Simply drape the lights over the bed canopy to produce an illuminating, scintillating effect.

  • Christmas lights for the staircase

Any home’s staircase can be immediately made over with the addition of a few strands of mini lights, spiraled around the railing. In addition to mini lights, C9 Christmas lights are also excellent for decorating in this fashion.

  • Architectural features like columns and railings

Your home is likely rich in architectural features that are perfect blank canvases for lighting. Railings, posts, columns, pilings, soffits, and more will all look much nicer when adorned with Christmas lights, not to mention that the lights will add relief to the features.

  • Lighted wall signs

If you decorate your home with Christmas wall signs, a great way to create a more captivating impression is to outline signs with Christmas lights before you hang them.

How to Hang Mini Lights

Hanging mini lights doesn’t have to be a science. There are many DIY methods that you can use in and around your home.

  • Non-marking strips and hooks

There are many non-marking strips and hooks available that are easy to install and compatible with a wide variety of surfaces. Some of the best of these are Command hooks, which can easily be put up and taken down, and which are non-marking. The hooks themselves are also re-usable, and perfect for hanging Christmas lights.

  • Wire nails

Wire nails will leave a mark when removed, but if installed wisely, you’ll never even notice. Some of the most effective ways to use these are around the margins of trim, or around window frames, where they can easily be driven in to serve as a makeshift anchor point for Christmas lights.

  • A drop of hot glue

If nails or Command hooks won’t work where you want to install Christmas lights, you may be able to get away with hot glue. Avoid applying it to drywall or painted surfaces, but you can apply a drop to stone, brick, and in some cases, even wood. When you take the lights down, the glue should peel off cleanly.
