The Story behind the sweets
Gold Ribbon Confections is inspired by my son, Micah Ahern. Micah was diagnosed with Neuroblastoma when he was just a year old and spent the next six years of his life battling cancer. In July 2016, he earned his wings.
During his brief time here with us, Micah, AKA Superhero Micah, inspired thousands through his "Never, Ever Give Up" attitude. As part of his legacy, a portion of every sale goes to support other heroes just like him who are fighting cancer.
As a child, I baked with my grandmother and father. I have fond memories of rolling out cookies and the smell of fresh brownies baking in the oven. I watched and helped my late father as he baked cakes, entered, and won competitions.
Later in life I stumbled upon a job where some- one offered me the opportunity to bake. My path then led me to work as a baker and pastry chef under various chefs for the next 13+ years. The experience of getting to bake with my son, Micah, is the reason I decided to open my own bakery, Gold Ribbon Confections, which serves Dasher Pie Co.
It is my honor to love and serve my customers on their ordinary days on their special occasions!
