Spring is just around the corner, and there’s no better way to welcome the season than with a lush garland bursting with mixed greenery, delicate boxwood, and wildflowers. A full and flowing spring garland brings effortless charm to any space. In this tutorial, I’ll show you how to create a beautifully layered design that feels both natural and refined—perfect for embracing the fresh, vibrant energy of the season! If you love this design you can purchase our full spring garland kit that provides you with the pieces needed to create this lush look in your own home.
1.) First you'll want to anchor the 2 cedar garlands to the mantle. We chose the Lebanon Cedar as the base for this design due to it's lush natural look that can be used for all seasons! Depending on the material of your mantle you can use screws or command hooks. For this cedar block mantle, I used 3 screws and held the garland in place with floral wire (or zip ties). If you have a smooth wood mantle you can use the cord bundlers command hooks.
2.) Next you want to build out your greenery base. You will want to start working one style at a time. Push the stems of the Norfolk sprays up into the cedar garlands allowing them to drape down. They should be able to support themselves, but if you need to, you can always use floral wire. Space these evenly and allow them to cascade down. Then add in the other greenery stem-the boxwood. Use a similar process here of pushing them into the cedar base. You’ll want to place these in between the Norfolk stems you’ve already placed and beef them up around the corners of the garland.
3.) Then add in the wispy sprays in the same way-spacing evenly throughout.
4.) You’ll want to take the hydrangea bundles apart into smaller pieces. Stick the individual pieces into the garland, spacing evenly throughout. You’ll start to get a lot of texture here!
5.) For the final step, hang the carrot garlands. Start at your center point of your garland and anchor each garland from the middle. You can use the greenery itself to hold it in place or floral wire. Drape the garland to each side, anchoring at the end point and allowing it fall down along the side. The carrot garlands make this perfectly whimsy for the Easter season, however if you want to extend the use of the garland, remove them after Easter for a perfectly lush spring garland that can stay all season!
And just like that, you’ve created a stunning spring garland that’s as lush and vibrant as the season itself! With its organic blooms, this piece brings a fresh, natural touch to any space. We'd love to see how you style yours—share your creations and let’s celebrate the season in full bloom!
