Jul 25th 2024

The holiday season is the perfect time to transform your home into a festive wonderland, and nothing sets the mood quite like the glow of Christmas lights on the exterior of your home. Among the many options available, C9 Christmas lights stand out for their larger size, vibrant colors, energy savings and classic appeal. Whether you're aiming for a nostalgic vintage look or a modern, dazzling display, C9 lights are incredibly versatile and can elevate your holiday decor in countless ways. In this blog, we’ll explore ten creative and inspiring ways to decorate with C9 Christmas lights, helping you bring extra warmth and cheer to your festivities this year.

What Are C9 Christmas Lights?

Picture in your mind those retro Christmas lights, the one with the large, inverted, teardrop shaped bulbs - those are C9 Christmas lights! Think Clark Griswold’s house from “Christmas Vacation.” It’s a C9 Christmas light extravaganza!

These are among the largest, brightest, and most adaptable of all Christmas lights. Traditionally, they were incandescent lights with glass bulbs, but today, there are modern versions with shatter-resistant bulbs and bright, and brilliant energy-efficient LEDs.

These modern C9 Christmas lights, which are available in a rainbow of colors, with either smooth, frosted, or faceted bulbs, are long-lasting,durable, and will make your home sparkle and shine for the holidays with lower energy consumption.

Ways to Decorate with C9 Christmas Lights

Wondering how to put these wonderful Christmas lights into play this Christmas season?

Here are 10 great ways to brighten your yuletide with them!

Decorate the Eaves

Because C9 Christmas lights are big and bold, they’re great for installing along the eaves and at the crest of a house’s roof.

Installed in this fashion, C9 lights can “frame” the house, giving it texture and adding color to your overall display - no matter how and where else you use lights outdoors!

Outline the Windows

C9 Christmas Lights

Outlining the exterior windows with C9s can add depth and really help to achieve a gingerbread house look. Not only does it complete the display, but it also makes the front of the house shine magically!  Want to add some ambient light to your home’s interior without actually changing anything? Get some C9 Christmas lights and hang them around the inside of the window’s casement, so that they are visible both inside the room and from the outside.

This will create a greater focal point for the home from the outside and make it brighter inside, too, adding mood light to the setting as a backdrop for your other Christmas decorations.

Line your Ridges

Another great way to make your roofline glow is by adding C9 bulbs to your ridgelines. If you are adding lights to your exterior in stages, this is perfect for stage 2! Our ridge clips, slide easily over your shingles and allow the C9 bulbs to stand upright, bringing the top of your roof out of the shadows and into the light. It’s the perfect way to add a lot of pop!

Trace Walkways

One more outdoor installation tip - if you have outdoor walkways around the front or back of your home, you can use C9 lights to flank the trail. This will not only boost the ambiance of the setting around Christmas time, but will improve illumination, enhancing your home’s outdoor safety. This puts your C9 lights on double duty!

Spiral the Columns

Does your home have a porch, patio, or vestibule with decorative columns? If so, those columns are a blank canvas for C9 lights. Spiral the lights up the columns and flank the entryway; it will frame the entrance to your home, and it will also add some gentle, ambient, lambent glow, throwing some lovely mood lighting.

Also, another great tip is to pair this technique with some Christmas garlands. Weave the C9s through the garland and then use that to decorate the columns.

Spiral Outdoor Trees

The same technique mentioned above can be applied to outdoor tree trunks. C9s are a bit large to use on the trunk of the tree, admittedly - 5mm mini light strands wide angle conical string lights are better for that - but with respect to the canopy, C9s are a great option, especially for large trees.

Just spiral them up through the canopy and go from there! Add some metallic ornaments to the tree’s boughs to catch and reflect the light from the C9s, while you’re at it!

Posts, Pillars, Fences, Mailboxes and More

Other outdoor fixtures, like fences and fence posts, pillars, and mailboxes (among others) are also blank slates for decorating with C9 Christmas lights, all the more because these lights are large and great for making a statement.

Wrap these lights around fence posts or around split fencing to add cheer and a warm Christmas-y glow to your outdoor spaces.

Have a metal fence? Magnetic socket cord works amazingly well with C9 Christmas lights to outline fence tops and add a ton of pizzazz to your display!

Frame the Deck

Does your home have an outdoor deck or patio? If it has a railing or banister, you can use C9 lights to trace the outline or swoop them across the top of your pergola or patio, adding relief and a touch of mood lighting in one fell swoop!
